For 7 years between 2015 and 2021 I provided child therapy through my business Hidden Treasure Therapy. Alongside this I found the variation I crave working on various projects and collaborating with a range of human service organisations, schools and early years services in the Loddon Campaspe area often with a focus on embedding trauma informed care.
After a return to working in organisations during Covid (oh, what a time!), I'm now working on my Doctorate research and reestablishing my private practice. It's a new way of doing things and yet, continues to be underpinned by my hope that all children meet their potential, and are seen, heard and understood by the adults around them. I'm a proud Social Worker, who studied at La Trobe University Bendigo as a mature age student when my own children went off to school. When they were little, I completed my VCE online, writing in my journal that I wanted to learn all I could about child psychology so that I could give my children what they needed. After doing a social work elective, I switched courses and found home. In addition to my university degrees, I've completed a range of post graduate training opportunities, in child and family related intervention including:
If all of that sounds like a load of gobbledygook, don't worry - it just means I've sought out the skills and knowledge needed for this important work. Most of all though, it's provided me with permission to find my own way of being. Complimenting my clinical work, I've lectured at university for the past 8 years and provided supervision for social workers, students and other health professionals working in the child and youth fields, appeared on podcasts and spoken at conferences. I love that I get to do such interesting and important work...and can't wait to see what's next! |
